Spain's wildest coastline — volcanic rock, hidden coves, and ancient trails starting from Casa23's doorstep.
Cap de Creus is one of the most dramatic landscapes in southern Europe — a protected national park of twisted volcanic rock, fragrant scrubland, and dazzling sea views. The trails are raw, spectacular, and largely uncrowded. Most routes start within walking distance of Casa23.
Spain's easternmost point is a place of genuine wildness. The park covers 10,000 hectares of rocky headland, where the Pyrenees meet the Mediterranean. Dalí lived here, in Portlligat, and the landscape shaped his surrealist vision — you'll understand why the moment you walk it.
The coastline is dramatic: sheer cliffs, sea stacks, rock arches, and hidden coves only accessible on foot. The light is extraordinary, especially in the golden hours. Wildlife includes Bonelli's eagles, dolphins in the bay, and wild boar in the scrubland.
The Cap de Creus trails are at their best in spring and autumn. Summer is perfectly walkable with early starts — the mornings are cool and the light is magical before 10am. Winter walking is underrated: mild temperatures, no crowds, and the pine forests are at their greenest.
We can arrange guided walks with local naturalist guides who know the park intimately — from geology tours to birdwatching walks to night hikes under the stars. Ask us when you book and we'll sort the details.
Six walks ranging from a gentle coastal stroll to a full-day traverse of Cap de Creus. Most start within 200 metres of the villa.
The classic coastal walk — headlands, hidden coves, and the lighthouse at the very tip of Spain. Return by taxi or arrange a pickup from the villa.
A full-day loop taking in the lighthouse, Portlligat (Dalí's house), and Cadaqués for lunch. The best single-day walk on the Costa Brava.
Down through the scrubland to one of the most beautiful hidden coves on the cap. Swimming stop essential. Back up via a different ridge with sea views.
Up to the headland above town for panoramic views over the entire Bay of Roses, the Pyrenees, and the Alberes range. Starts from the edge of Roses.
A gentle 30-minute coastal walk linking Cadaqués to Dalí's house and boat. Short but beautiful — perfect paired with lunch in the village and a taxi home.
A flat valley walk through vineyards and garrigue to the sheltered cove at Cala Montjoi, passing ancient terraces and a Roman settlement site.
