The Costa Brava is at its most spectacular from the water. The cliffs and coves of Cap de Creus, the medieval village of Cadaqués glimpsed from the sea, the secret swimming spots only accessible by boat — sailing here is an entirely different experience to any land-based adventure. And Roses marina, one of the Costa Brava's best-equipped, is 5 minutes from Casa23.

Roses Marina

Roses marina is a full-service facility with 700 berths, fuel dock, chandlery, and multiple charter operators. Whether you want a crewed day charter, a bareboat hire, or a skippered sunset cruise, the options are excellent. The marina is a 5-minute drive from Casa23, or a pleasant 20-minute walk along the seafront.

What's Available

• Day charters (crewed): A skipper takes you and your group along the coast — typically 6–8 hours with swimming stops, snorkelling, and lunch at anchor in a secluded cove. Groups of up to 12 depending on the vessel.
• Sunset cruises: 2–3 hour evening sail along the bay, returning as the sun drops behind the Pyrenees. Drinks on board. Spectacular from Casa23's terrace afterwards.
• Bareboat charter: For licensed sailors. A range of yachts and motorboats available by the day or week.
• Kayak & SUP hire: For shorter coastal exploration from the beach. Several operators on Platja de Roses.
• Fishing trips: Local fishermen run half-day fishing charters from the marina — a very local, very Spanish experience.

Where to Go

The coastline from Roses to Cap de Creus is extraordinary by sea. Key stops on a day sail:

• Cala Jugadora: A tiny cove just north of Roses, only reachable by boat or a long hike. Brilliant snorkelling.
• Cala Jóncols: Wider, sheltered, with a small beach bar in summer. Popular anchorage.
• Cap de Creus lighthouse: Sail to the tip of Spain and anchor beneath the lighthouse. Otherworldly.
• Cadaqués: The most beautiful village on the Costa Brava. Arrive by sea for the most spectacular view. Lunch, a wander, and sail back.
• Port Lligat: Dalí's house and boat, just round the headland from Cadaqués.

Sailing Seasons

Sailing is best from April to October. Summer brings calm seas, consistent afternoon breezes, and warm water. The Tramontane wind in spring and autumn can make conditions more challenging but also more exhilarating for experienced sailors. Winter sailing is possible but weather windows are less predictable.
